Short biography:

I am an Associate Professor of Ecological Remote Sensing with the primary research interest in spatiotemporal analysis of forest structure, biodiversity and health indicators by means of spaceborne and airborne data sources. In particular, I am interested in analyzing three-dimensional sources of aerial data for better understanding both tree and gap structures in forest habitats. Other fields in which I am deeply interested include phenology-based approaches for monitoring vegetation decline across temperate and semi-arid ecosystems, as well as retrieval of α, β, and γ diversities of plant communities by means of optical time series of remote sensing data. Besides my teaching and research activities at the K. N. Toosi University of Technology and the University of Würzburg, I am a Commissioning Editor for Methods in Ecology and Evolution (Wiley) and an Associate Editor for Forestry (Oxford University Press).

Released software:

PaRaVis: A powerful Python graphical package designed for extracting, visualizing and analyzing plant diversity (Rao´s Q) baased on remote sensing vegetation indices. It comprises three main sections to enhance the applicability and functionality: 1) extracting, visualizing and selecting VIs from the available 75 indices, 2) calculating Rao´s Q by parallel computation in unidimensional and multidimensional models, and 3) visualizing the outputs and the associated diagnostic tools.

DiTiMo: DiTiMo (Disturbance Time-series Monitoring) is a web application designed for monitoring vegetation decline by utilizing the powerful capabilities of Google Earth Engine. It implements a cumulative sum (CuSum)-based approach to provide precise and near real-time monitoring of decline over terrestrial ecosystems.Current datasets used within DiTiMo include 123 indices from harmonized Landsat/Sentinel-2, 123 indices from Landsats 5/8/9, 155 indices from Sentinel-2 and 10 indices from Sentinel-1 datasets. Links to register for and apply the tool will be provided after its final publication.
