Evaluation and grading
The final grade is calculated as follows:

If the grade on the Final exam is less than 50%, then the student will fail,

If the grade on the Final exam is more than 50%, then the Final grade is calculated as follows:
- Assignments and class activities: 3 marks
- Midterm exam: 6 marks
- Final exam: 11 marks
Your marks will be posted on my website as soon as they are ready.
In case you have any question, you can ask me either in class or my office. My schedule is available from here.
I will try to illustrate some basic concepts using a software called R. You will be required to do some questions using R. This is a free software. Refer to the webpage for instructions.
Midterm and Final exams
The Midterm exam will be held on April, 17, 2017 (7:30-9:00 am). It will cover Chapter 1 of the first reference book as well as Chapter 1 of the second refrence book.
The Final exam will be held on June 19, 2017 (10:30 am-12:30 pm). It will cover Chapters 1-3 of the second reference book.

This homework is based on Chapter 1 of the first reference book. Please hand your solutions to your TA by Monday, February 27, 2017.
