Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) techniques are used for non-invasive assessment of the integrity of materials, components, and structures.
They are also used for measurement of various characteristics of materials. At NDE Lab, research is conducted on application of NDE techniques to engineering materials and components. While our focus is on ultrasonics, other methods such as radiography, magnetic particle, and penetrant testing are also considered when necessary.
Our research projects are two-folded. Some are concerned with development of new techniques for testing and evaluation of materials and others deal with the application of existing NDE techniques to special industrial problems. Development of mathematical models for interaction of ultrasonic waves with certain types of materials, development of new signal processing techniques for enhancing ultrasonic signals and design and manufacture of specific tools for inspection of engineering components are examples of our activities at NDE Lab.
